*Decidere* means 'to cut off' in latin. The meaning hasn't changed. Deciding means cutting away alternatives. Freedom is choosing, and choosing is saying no. You don't go far by sitting down at a crossroad to stare at the signs. What you decide tends to matter less than the fact you do decide. Saying no is an underrated skill.
